A participatory process or approach seeks to engage
all stakeholders in guiding and shaping their own development. This
approach or process, over time, secures a lasting commitment and strong
sense of ownership.
Encouraging and using participatory processes has been one of DPRA Canada's
primary activities in Canada and internationally for over 20 years.
Our international participatory process activities include working with
local officials in the design, development and delivery of projects;
collaboration with local institutions/NGOs in environmental and socio-economic
impact assessments; developing multi-stakeholder consultations regarding
proposed development projects and environmental policy; and designing
public consultation programs.
