Web-based Mapping - ArcIMS
Most
new applications being developed are "web-enabled" to allow
users easier access to data and services. Mapping applications are no
exception. Clients now want access to their spatial data and related
information where they are and when they want it, without the expense
of developing, operating and maintaining expensive software packages
and high-end hardware platforms. DPRA Canada can provide total mapping
services from inception and data capture, to map production and web-mapping
applications. The ability to view spatial data over the internet (or
through an intra-net) provides the user, whether a client, researcher
or operational personnel, the ability to see the information they are
interested in without needing a specific hardcopy map. Whether you are
mapping natural resources, demographic and socio-economic indicators
or planning features within your community - your mapping needs and
provision of web-access can be professionally provided by DPRA Canada.
Two ArcIMS web-based GIS applications have been designed,
developed and customized by DPRA Canada to provide spatial and descriptive
information on over 300 USPS facilities. The two web-based tools allow
USPS management to make decisions on a site by site basis with regards
to water usage and compliance with EPA standards and EPA's Resource
Conservation Recovery Act (RCRA). Powered by ESRI's ArcIMS Internet
mapping software, the web applications allow users to navigate throughout
the United States, drill down to specific postal area and view survey
results based on pre-defined categories. The USPS RCRA website is extensively
customized in order to create a user-friendly tool as well as a visually
pleasing site to visit.
